3 companies downsizing in 2017: Ohio workers impacted by layoffs

Several companies and major retailers have announced lay offs in the first month of 2017, and some Ohio employees will be impacted by the corporate changes.

These companies have already announced job eliminations:

1. Abercrombie & Fitch

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has eliminated 150 positions at the corporate level, a spokeswoman confirmed with this news organization today. The clothing retail chain is headquartered in New Albany, just outside of Columbus.

2. Macy’s

Macy's is going to shut down 68 stores in the coming months, including three in Ohio. Macy's will close locations in Columbus, Sandusky and Steubenville. More than 193 employees will be impacted in Ohio. READ WHY HERE.

3. Fitbit

Fitbit, the California-based activity tracker company, said it is reorganizing its business structure and will lay off 110 employees — about six percent of the company's workforce.
