Have a New Year’s resolution? AF Marathon sign up starts today

Thousands of runners will take their first step toward the 2018 Air Force Marathon when registration starts 9 a.m.Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The series of races traditionally brings competitors from all 50 states and several countries from Asia to Europe to the starting line at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, organizers say.

To register log, onto www.usafmarathon.com . The event has a 5K, 10K, half-marathon and full-marathon.

This year, the race has rolled out the Fly-Fight-Win Challenge Series, awarding a new medal to those who complete the 5K race at Wright State University on Sept. 14 and the 10K and half-marathon on the main race day Sept. 15 at Wright-Patterson.

“As runners go, they sure love those medals, ” Rob Aguiar, marathon director, said in a recent interview with this news outlet. “We’re certainly going to make it something eye-popping and something that runners enjoy and be very proud to add to the collection of other medals that they’ve obtained.
