KitchenAid maker doubles size of Greenville distribution center

Whirpool Corp. has doubled the size of its distribution center in Greenville through a $17 million investment.

Whirlpool hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony today to celebrate its expansion of its Greenville factory, which currently services global KitchenAid small appliance shipments.

The project — which will nearly double the size of the distribution center from 327,000 square feet to approximately 650,000 square feet — builds upon Whirlpool Corporation’s commitment to American manufacturing and reinforces Greenville as the global hub of the company’s small appliances business, a company statement said.

The Greenville plant manufactures stand mixers, stand mixer attachments and accessories, hand mixers, blenders, aerated beverage machines and cutlery blocks under the KitchenAid brand.

“We’re excited to expand to accommodate the growing global demand in the small appliance category,” said Ken Hossler, plant lead at the Greenville Operations. “Our investment in Greenville further demonstrates our commitment to Ohio’s skilled workforce and reinforces Greenville as the global hub of our small appliance business.”

Currently, Whirlpool has approximately 10,000 workers across its five manufacturing plants in Ohio. The plant about an hour’s drive from Dayton is one of five Whirlpool manufacturing facilities in Ohio.
