Neighboring Greene County posted a February unemployment rate of 4.8 percent, down from 5 percent in January but up from 4.5 percent in February 2016.

By comparison, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 5.9 percent in February, down from 6 percent in January and 5.6 percent in February 2016.

The state added 15,200 jobs in February and unemployment rates decreased in most of Ohio’s 88 counties. The highest unemployment was in Monroe County at 11.8 percent and lowest was Mercer County at 3.7 percent.

“We were second in the nation in job growth, and our labor force skyrocketed, but that doesn’t mean we’re ringing any victory bells,” Jon Keeling, an ODJFS spokesman, said. “There’s more work to do, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to grow opportunity so everyone looking for a job can get one.“
