AT&T: Nearly $1.5B investment in Ohio last year

Locally, 370 ‘enhancements’ to local wireless network

AT&T has upgraded its wireless network in Montgomery and surrounding counties with more than 370 “enhancements” last year, the company said Monday.

“The completed improvements add greater capacity and speeds to existing cell towers in these counties,” AT&T said in a statement. “Across Ohio in 2016, we made more than 1,900 upgrades to our wireless network.”

“We appreciate the continued investment AT&T makes in our area,” Phil Parker, president and chief executive of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, said in the company’s announcement. “These network upgrades will benefit our community for years to come.”

“Our Ohio employees are focused on bringing a better mobile experience to Dayton and across the state. Our investment in the local wireless network is one way we’re accomplishing that,” Adam Grzybicki, president, AT&T Ohio, said said.

These upgrades include more than 110 added layers of radio frequency spectrum in Montgomery County. The company said it expanded the number of radio frequencies used on more than 40 towers in that county.

AT&T said it invested nearly $1.5 billion in its Ohio wireless and wired networks from 2013 to 2015. From 2011 to 2015, AT&T said it invested more in the United States “than any other public company.”
