One of the biggest new tenants to downtown Dayton in decades is starting to move in employees to its new office.
Taylor Communications will hold a ribbon cutting 10 a.m. Wednesday to celebrate as the start of what will be 600 employees moving to 111 W. First St.
“We are thrilled to be moving our team into the heart of downtown—a city built upon innovation and ingenuity … We are confident our new space will allow us to embrace the innovative spirit of the city and continue to produce outstanding work,” the print and digital communications company said in a statement.
The company — formerly Standard Register — is moving its employees into eight stories of the office tower with the help of $1 million from the county and city.
As part of the agreement, Taylor says it will spend at least $2.4 million on facility improvements, equipment and other items so it can occupy about 130,000 square feet of space in the office tower, spread across about eight floors. Taylor will maintain a presence at its campus in West Dayton.
In exchange for the city’s support, Taylor has agreed to pay at least $500,000 annually in wage withholding taxes through 2023.
