NOTES
  1. Delphi employment declined over several years from about 15,000 locally in 1999. Only its Vandalia plant remains open locally, where the city estimates it employs about 250. Inteva, formerly part of Delphi, also employs about 125 workers in Vandalia. Tenneco bought the Kettering plant, which employs about 500 workers.
  2. GM Moraine Assembly had peak employment of about 4,000 employees, but employed 1,100 workers when it closed in 2008.
  3. In 2009, NCR told the Dayton Daily News it was eliminating 1,250 jobs in Dayton but the company reported 644 job losses in its most recent layoff notice to the state.
  4. GE Capital Retail Finance has about 1,550 employees in Kettering, according to the company, and added about 550 in 2005-06 based on city estimates.
  5. Wright-Patterson added 1,200 jobs after 2005 BRAC round relocated the 711th Human Performance Wing, U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and brought additional research work to the base.
