Even Nashville stars can be ‘accident prone’

More country fun from Nancy Wilson. K99online.com

From the files of “Things to know about Nancy”: I’m a klutz. My morning radio show partner Frye Guy likes to say I’m “accident prone,” which is a nice way of saying I’m clumsy.

That crack in the sidewalk you may have successfully navigated hundreds of times? A beacon for me. The remnants of a dead skunk in the middle of the road that still stinks? I got it.

Just last month, I attempted to take our station tent we use at remote broadcasts down by myself only to smack myself right in the face with one of the bars. While I didn’t pass out, I saw those cartoon birds flying around my head and got a nice bruise across my face. Over the weekend, I was stringing out an extension cord for another remote and ran into the only thing sticking out of the wall, a water spigot. Yup, my arm is a nice rainbow color this week. My sister and I have always joked we are blessed with the “Wilson Luck,” which is usually bad.

But I’m thinking Chris Young might be a distant relative. After celebrating at his fan club party Thursday night in Nashville, he was at home making a snack when he cut himself — bad enough to require surgery Friday morning to repair tendons in his hand. Chris was forced to cancel an autograph session and performance Saturday at the CMA Music Festival. He’s expected to make a full recovery. Last August, he was rushed to a Denver hospital after going into septic shock when a small cut on his leg developed a bacterial infection.

Luke Bryan, he of the moves that would make a Chippendale dancer blush, took a tumble off the stage at a show in Charlotte, N.C., May 29. “First of all, I was just very lucky it wasn’t serious. I just, you know, I took the wrong step,” Luke told “ET.” “I was on the edge of that stage, and I tried to get a little closer to the [audience]. All year, we’ve had fans right up on the stage, but now we’re in amphitheaters … we have to back them up a little bit.” He needed a few stitches this time around. Ironically, the last time he fell from the stage was also in North Carolina, in Greensboro, back in February.

Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line told Fox News of a time he fell while on tour with Luke last year. “Kinda cut my hands up. But nothing too bad. It’s more of an ego hurt than anything else, and I am sure that’s how it was for Luke, too.”

Other tourmates, Thompson Square, also told of dust-ups while on tour with Luke. Shawna Thompson of Thompson Square told Fox, “Luke actually stepped on my foot one night when we were out performing with him. So there’s something about Luke, I think.”

“He’s a little clumsy,” joked Shawna’s husband and bandmate, Kiefer Thompson.

Considering how all his shows have sold out in mere minutes this year, I’m sure there’s plenty of female fans out there willing to “kiss it and make it better!”

Now, if I could just have Dierks Bentley on call for me!
