Dayton Air Show: Parking, deals, dos and don'ts

The 2017 Vectren Dayton Air Show is this weekend.

Here is a quick guide to everything you need to know before you go:

THE BASICS

What: Vectren Dayton Air Show

When: Saturday and Sunday, June 24-25, 2017. Gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. Featured acts from noon to 3:20 p.m.

Where: Dayton International Airport, 3600 Terminal Drive, Dayton, OH 45377

WEATHER

Good news: Sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 80s are predicted for this weekend. To get the entire forecast, head over to WHIO.com.

PARKING/TRAFFIC

  • There's plenty of onsite parking. Keep in mind it's $10 per car and $20 for RVs, buses and large-size vehicles. Guests should keep in mind that overnight parking is prohibited.
  • If you're traveling north or south on I-75, use Exit 64 toward Northwoods Blvd.
  • Those traveling east or west on I-70 are advised to use Exit 32, the Airport Access Road. Traffic will be routed off the Access Road east onto National Road.
  • Parking pass holders and general admission traffic will be routed north on Dixie Drive to their designated parking area.
  • Drivers are encouraged to follow signs posted along the show route as well as the directions conveyed by the police officers.
  • Delays are expected on National Road and Dixie Drive during the Air Show weekend.

SHUTTLE BUSES

The Greater Dayton RTA will provide transportation to the Vectren Dayton Air Show this weekend. Air-conditioned buses will run an express shuttle service on a continuous loop from both the U.S. Air Force Museum parking lot and Wright Stop Plaza directly to the air show’s main gate.

Hours of operation for the park-and-ride service are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The cost of a round-trip ride is $3. Cash is the only payment method accepted. Children 5 and under are free. From the downtown Wright Stop Plaza location, the regular fare structure applies.

Concessions, Coca-Cola products and Budweiser beer will be for sale on site. Cash only. ATMs are located on site.

EXTRAS

  • Map: Get familiar with the setup before you go with this map
  • Children's activities: The Vectren Kids' Hangar features a huge sandbox, face painting and crafts, a backyard gym and more. Air Show performers sometimes stop by to sign autographs. Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Free.
  • Displays: View a variety of aircraft of all shapes and sizes.
