PERFECT PAIRING? Local brewery to host beer-and-doughnuts event

A local brewery is joining forces with a nearby doughnut shop to offer a pairing event that promises to match up “two of the best things ever made by man.”

Star City Brewing Company and Bear Creek Donuts are calling their joint event "Beer + Donuts: A Miamisburg Pairing." It will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Star City brewery at 319 South 2nd St.

“Being from Miamisburg and occupying the old Peerless Mill, where we are has always been central to who we are as a business,” Justin Kohnen, co-founder of Star City Brewing, said in a release. “There are so many great things going on in downtown Miamisburg. We’ve been throwing around the idea of doing an event with Ryan Tripp from Bear Creek Donuts for a while now and are excited to see it come together for Beer + Donuts.”

Star City Brewing opened in November 2013 in the 14,000-square-foot building that once housed the Peerless Mill, which operated for nearly eight decades before closing in 2008. The site once housed a working mill that was built in 1828 along the former Miami and Erie Canal.

Tripp opened Bear Creek Donuts at 80 South Main St. in Miamisburg in 2016.
