Top 10 things to do in Dayton this week

1) “A CHRISTMAS STORY”

Jean Shepherd’s comedic holiday memoir, “A Christmas Story,” was set in simpler times when the appearances of a Red Ryder BB gun and a lamp in the form a woman’s leg could turn a family’s life upside down. However, that story from 1966 still resonates with fans decades later thanks the popularity of the low-budget 1983 feature film and two popular stage adaptations.

Fox TV is even airing a live, prime-time version of the musical on Dec. 17. However, if you want to watch a live version of the classic tale, you’re in luck — because Victoria Theatre Association is presenting “A Christmas Story” at Victoria Theatre, 138 N. Main St., Dayton, Tuesday through Sunday, Dec. 12-17.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with 2 p.m. shows Saturday and Sunday. Cost: $30-$60. Call 937-228-3630 or visit www.ticketcenterstage.com.
