How you can help the Artemis Center

Since 1985, Artemis Center for Alternatives to Domestic Violence has been providing services to victims of domestic violence and their children.

The non-profit organization was founded by a small group of women, often working without pay. The idea was to provide services other than traditional housing. Those free and confidential services include crisis intervention by phone and walk-in appointments; individual adult, child and family therapy; support groups; criminal and civil court accompaniment and victim advocacy with systems and community partners.

Artemis Center also provides pantry services that include food, household items, personal hygiene items, and toys and clothing for victims and their children. “Our food pantry is essential to our clients, especially their children,” says executive director Jane Keiffer. “This pantry provides meals and snacks to our families who often come to us on the run or in the process of starting over. We know that something as simple as a small snack or juice box provides comfort for our clients and their children during an extremely challenging time.”

The Big News

As of June 30, Artemis Center has added a new confidential and secure Domestic Violence Services Hotline number. “Having a 24/7 hotline provides clients and their families seamless access to our vital supportive services, which are now available to them anytime day or night,” says Jane Keiffer, the organization’s executive director. ” Artemis has secured a one button transfer to our local domestic violence shelter for those seeking shelter services.”

The new Hotline Number is (937) 461-HELP (4357)

You made a difference

“I know you like to hear back about donations received because of your column,” writes Kathy Trick, Miracle Clubhouse Coordinator for Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley. “We’ve received several donations so far and the pictures I’ve attached show the Yellow Springs Police Department dropping off office supplies and snack bar items. The Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug & Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) also told me they have collected items for us and will drop them off next week. Additionally, we’ve received a couple of monetary donations in the mail from your readers. So thank you again!”
