Make a difference: Diapers needed for Hannah’s Treasure Chest

Since 2001, Hannah’s Treasure Chest has provided care packages of children’s clothing, baby equipment, toys, books, and diapers at no cost to local families in need.

Today, nearly 50 local non-profits, school districts and social service agencies partner with the non-profit to request care packages for the children they serve. Once the requested items are packaged, the agencies’ staff members deliver them to the families.

“The National Diaper Bank Network’s research shows that one out of every three families in America has experienced diaper need,” said event coordinator Trudy Bechtolt. “When I heard that families frequently have to reuse a disposable diaper to make their baby’s supply last, I knew we had to help.”

With the assistance of several area YMCA’s, the organization is holding its Second annual Great Diaper Dash. The goal is to collect 24,000 diapers, enough to fill care packages for 240 infants & toddlers.

“We are excited to have twice as many YMCAs as collection partners for our second Great Diaper Dash,” Bechtolt said. “With their help, we hope to double donations from 2016 and make a real difference for the families we serve.”
