ORIGINAL STORY: When Glenn Scott Tattoo Team closed in the Oregon District, Joshua Lee Wilson and Robbie Bauer jumped on an opportunity to be their own bosses.

"If we are going to be putting everything into it, we should do it for ourselves," said Bauer, a 31-year-old Kettering resident.

Bauer, Joshua and their team began construction inside of 452 E. Fifth St. yesterday. Until recently, this space was the home of Glenn Scott’s Dayton location.

They expect to spend $25,000 to $35,000 to transform the space into Rebel Rebel Tattoo.

The shop’s design will celebrate the Oregon District’s past but incorporate modern elements, said Bauer, a Middletown native.

Bauer said he hopes to open it in March.

He said changing times and the sickness of his long-time manager were among the reasons for his decision.

Brad Darrell suffered a stroke last spring.

Glenn Scott’s Kettering location remains open.

Wilson, a 32-year-old Bethel Twp. resident, said Rebel Rebel is made up of friends who have worked together for 4 to 5 years.

The team started at Truth and Triumph’s Vandalia location and will include a manager and four tattoo artists.

“Talent-wise, it is going to be the best shop in Dayton,” said Wilson, a tattoo artist for 10 years.

Bauer has been a tattoo artist for 9 years. He says his team shares a special bond and will be customer focused.

“We can bring out the image inside your head instead of you picking the picture on the wall,” Bauer said.
