Summer was a really good season in downtown Dayton and surrounding neighborhoods.

Here are some highlights: 

SPANKING NEW LIBRARY

The Dayton Metro Library

Where:  215 E. Third St., Dayton

When did it  open: The state-of-the-art, $64 million dollar main branch officially opened  Aug. 5.

GAME ON

CANAL STREET ARCADE AND DELI 

Where: 308 E. First St., Dayton (the former home of the much-beloved music venue Canal Street Tavern)

When did it open: The restaurant, bar and game room opened Wednesday, June 28.

DK EFFECT 

Where:  1600 E. Third St., Dayton

When did it open: the game room and taphouse opened June 10.

Mudlick Tap House

Where: 135 E. Second St., Dayton

When did it open: The long-awaited restaurant started slinging brews July 22 in the former site of  Club Aquarius.

416 Diner 

Where: 416 E. Fifth St., Dayton

When did open: The breakfast, lunch and late-night eatery started welcoming customers July 7.

Lock 27 

Where: 329 E. Fifth St., Dayton 

When did it open: Located in the Delco Lofts building adjacent to Fifth Third Field, the tavern opened Sept. 5.

PUBS ON WHEELS 

The two bike pub companies operating in downtown Dayton launched in March, but really kicked it in gear this summer.

NEW PLACE FOR MUSIC 

Levitt Pavilion 

Where: Dave Hall Plaza, 36 S. Main St., Dayton

When did the concert happen: The Levitt Pavilion will not officially open until next year, but had its first concert Aug. 17  with a performance by The Suffers.
