9 beautiful wall murals that decorate the region

Murals can add vibrancy to urban landscapes as well as showcase the talent of local artists on a public canvas.

Recent large-scale illustrations that have caught the eyes of many are the depictions of outdoor activities in the River Run Mural, the merger of bold designs and colors on the K-12 & TEJAS building in downtown Dayton as well as numerous whimsical sketches created by the Mural Machine that have popped up around the city.

The grand art projects can foster neighborhood beautification and encourage a sense of community. Young artists working with the Montgomery County Juvenile Courts’ HAALO project have recently completed three murals that have brightened blank building walls.

Visitors to the historic city of Franklin can take self-guided walking tours of 10 panoramas painted by a nationally known artist on the sides of brick buildings.
