“As cold air cuts in with this system on Friday, road conditions will deteriorate quickly,” she said. “There is still the potential, especially in the Dayton-area, to see a wintry mix before the whole region transitions to snow for Friday evening.”

While it’s still too early to pin down some of the variables, two major prediction models portend significant snowfall for the region.
Wednesday afternoon, the European model shows snowfall amounts in the Dayton-metro area of between 2 to 4 inches with the GFS model topping out between 6 to 10 inches of snow lasting into Saturday.
Higher amounts could fall north of the main track, Zontini said.
Storm Center 7 meteorologists monitoring the approaching system will know more about the track of the storm by late Wednesday or early Thursday, she said.
