Calls for more policing after community activist attacked

Friends of a woman who was violently assaulted at her home in a Dayton neighborhood have called for an increased police presence in the area.

The 69-year-old victim, Paula Humphrey, has been a longtime and vocal critic of the level of policing and patrols along the North Main Street corridor.

After her attack, Humphrey’s friends spoke publicly on her behalf in favor of beefing up law enforcement in the area.

“We really want to see more of a police presence, where the police officers walk the streets and talk to neighbors,” said Donna O’Neill, Humphrey’s friend, who also lives in the FROC (Fair River Oaks Council) area.
