Dayton woman sent to prison in father’s cold case murder

A Dayton woman has been convicted and sentenced in the cold case murder of her father.

Linda Baccus, 62, will spend five years in prison for the 1987 beating death of her father Sanders Baccus, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Baccus was found guilty Tuesday of one count of involuntary manslaughter. She has admitted her guilt in the case.

On Jan. 18, 1987, the body of Sanders Baccus was discovered by one of his daughters inside his home in the 2700 block of Lakeview Avenue in Dayton.

In November 2015, the defendant confessed to her pastor that she had committed the homicide, according to a media release. The woman and her pastor then met with a detective.

Baccus is not eligible for early release and has waived her right to appeal.
