Deputy injured after crash with snow plow

A Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy was injured after his cruiser was hit by a Jefferson Township snow plow this morning.

Just before 12 p.m., crews were sent to the intersection of Infirmary and Derby Roads on reports of a crash.

The crash happened when the deputy passed through the intersection, heading north on Infirmary Road. The plow driver slid through a stop sign and hit the cruiser, according to Sgt. Chris Colbert of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The deputy was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His cruiser was heavily damaged in the wreck. The plow driver was uninjured.

"We're starting to have more crashes," Colbert said. "We're seeing a lot of refreezing."

The crash is still under investigation but the plow driver will likely be cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
