Drugs linked to Christmas murder case in Warren County

2009 Franklin High grad held on $500,000 bond.

A 2009 Franklin High School graduate remained in the Warren County Jail on Friday, charged in a drug-related Christmas murder case, according to authorities.

Preliminary investigation indicates Zackary L. Wilson, 25, of Franklin, shot Jeremy T. Foxx, 24, of Carlisle, with an automatic pistol as they drove to make a drug deal in Carlisle, authorities said Friday.

Wilson is expected to claim his judgment was clouded by methamphetamine use when he shot Foxx as they drove along Montgomery Avenue in a truck also carrying a woman.

Foxx’s body was found on Christmas night on a stretch of Montgomery Avenue in Franklin Twp., about an hour after residents living along the road in Carlisle reported hearing gunshots.

The killing apparently occurred near the Warren-Montgomery county line. Lots on Montgomery Avenue back up to the Montgomery County line.

Wilson was arrested on Dec. 27 after returning from Kentucky in response to a request from his mother. He surrendered to authorities without incident at the jail in Lebanon.

Investigators seized the truck, owned by Wilson’s mother and which he and Foxx were allegedly riding in at the time of the shooting, according to authorities.

Police sought help from the public in finding the truck and gathering information about the case.

If convicted, Wilson faces 3 to 10 years in prison, according to Franklin Municipal Judge Rupert Ruppert.

Bond for Wilson was set at $500,000 during an arraignment Friday in Franklin Municipal Court.

During the arraignment, Wilson said he would be represented by Bill Fowler, a lawyer in Lebanon.

Fowler could not be reached for comment.

Ruppert said he set the bond amount based the “seriousness of the offense” and Wilson’s criminal history.

According to online court records, Wilson has convictions in Lebanon Municipal Court for possession of weapon while intoxicated and having a firearm in a vehicle stemming from a 2013 incident in Lebanon, as well as several probation violations.

Authorities confirmed Wilson graduated from Franklin High School in 2009. The school district was closed Friday for the holidays.

Wilson was arraigned Friday in the Franklin court using a video link with the jail in Lebanon. He is scheduled to appear again on Friday, Jan. 6, in the Franklin Municipal Court.
