Gun found in stopped vehicle, officer assistance requested


Trotwood police briefly requested county-wide officer assistance while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle Monday morning.

Officers were first requested to the intersection of Salem Avenue and Turner Road around 1 a.m. on reports of a vehicle sitting at the intersection with its lights on, not moving.

The responding officer noted the driver was passed out in the driver seat and attempted to wake him up, according to police scanner traffic. A “signal 99” for officer assistance was requested when police saw a gun inside the vehicle when the approached it.

The assistance call was cancelled within a few minutes of the first request and one person was taken into custody without incident.

It was not immediately known what charges the driver might face.
