North Dixie shooting leaves two dead: What we know now

Police are continuing to investigate what precipitated two men being found shot to death inside Buck-I Auto Sales at 2801 N. Dixie Drive on Monday.

What we know now

The deceased men were officially identified today as dealership owner Frank D. Buck, 71, and Lester Golson, 59, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office. Their autopsies were scheduled for this morning.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office investigators collected evidence and took photographs of the scene on Monday and said they would continue interviewing witnesses.

The 911 caller who said she saw a struggle between the men was interviewed Monday by investigators. In a 6-minute call, the woman said she saw the face of one man and heard what sounded like three gunshots.

Investigators are trying to determine the relationship between the two men and if business dealings were part of what was called a "tussle" inside the dealership.

Neither man had felony records in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court or any serious interactions with Dayton police. A records request has been made to the sheriff's office for any interactions the men have had with that agency.

Deputies forced entry into the business after the 911 call at 1:22 p.m. Monday. Investigators are asking area businesses to see if they have any surveillance footage.

The sheriff's office said people in the North Dixie area shouldn't worry about any suspects.

“I don’t believe that there’s anybody that we need to worry about right now,” Capt. Jeremy Roy said. “We think it was contained right here.”

Montgomery County property records indicate the property was sold in 1999 by Sam Ashburn Sr. to Buck.
