Springfield woman charged after toddler allegedly found on roof

A Springfield woman is facing child endangering charges after a 2-year-old child was allegedly found on the roof of their home with a dog.

Daun Morrison, 23, of 231 S. Shaffer St., was arrested and placed in the Clark County Jail. She’s expected to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. today.

Springfield Police Division officers were sent to the home about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on a call about a child on a roof. Morrison told officers she was doing dishes and didn’t know where the child was at the time. The child was found in a second story room located directly over the roof where the windows were open to circulate air, the report said.

The home allegedly reeked of feces and urine and officers’ boots were sticking to the floor. Bugs and flies were also found throughout the home, the report said. It also had three cats and one dog living there, Morrison told police.

There was also allegedly cat feces in the bathroom, officers said.

The child was placed in the care of a relative.
