Warren County man charged in ‘gray death’ overdose case

Warren County authorities are holding one suspect in connection with an overdose death involving a drug mixture known as“‘gray death.”

On Saturday, detectives from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office were investigating a heroin overdose from earlier that morning.

At 4:11 a.m., deputies found Joseph J. Krouse, 33, dead from an apparent overdose at 652 Quail Lake Dr. in Deerfield Township.

After speaking with witnesses at the home, it was discovered Krouse apparently on “gray death,” a deadly combination of heroin, carfentanil and fentanyl.

After learning who allegedly had sold the drugs to Krouse, the detectives set up an undercover operation to attempt to purchase more of the mixture from the same dealer.

Several hours later, more was delivered to a location in Deerfield Township.

Bobby Singleton III, 34, of Mason, was arrested and charged with one count of trafficking in drugs and one count of possession of drugs, both felonies.

Singleton could face an additional charge after the victim’s toxicology results are known.

He is currently being held in the Warren County Jail without bond.

This incident is still under investigation by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
