Wisconsin man sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting child in Dayton

A Wisconsin man was found guilty of being a sexually violent predator, the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s officer announced in a press release Wednesday.

Robert Maranger, 49, of Stoughton, Wisconsin, was sentenced to life in prison as a result of the guilty verdict.

The crime occurred in August 2015 while Maranger and his girlfriend, and her 8‐year‐old daughter were staying at the Quality Inn on Maxton Road in Butler Twp., the release said. An employee at the hotel saw Maranger on surveillance video sexually assaulting the 8‐year‐old girl indoor pool and fitness areas, according to the release.

The employee then called the Butler Twp. police, which arrested the Maranger. He was subsequently indicted on several charges, including rape of a child under 10 and gross sexual imposition of a child under 13 years of age. Both counts had sexually violent predator specifications attached, the release said.
