Dayton tool chest makers to be featured on ‘A Craftsman’s Legacy’

The PBS show “A Craftsman’s Legacy” will feature a Daytonian later this month.

An episode of the show was filmed in Dayton and spotlights H. Gerstner & Sons tool chest makers, according to a press release from ThinkTV PBS.

The episode will air at 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 on channel 16.3 and at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 on channel 14.1, according to PBS.

Host Eric Gorges, a renowned metal shaper and motorcycle builder with Voodoo Choppers in Detroit hosts the PBS show and will visit H. Gerstner & Sons tool chest makers in Dayton.

The tool chest maker is now run by fourth generation president Scott Campbell who along with his team will give a “behind the scenes” look at the manufacturer.

The H. Gerstner & Sons tool chest makers company started in 1906 and is the only United States based manufacturer of wood tool chests, according to PBS. The episode filmed in Dayton is part of the show’s fourth season during which 13, 30-minute episodes will air.
