Elsa’s sports bar in Kettering to reopen

UPDATE @ 3:47 p.m. (Oct. 24):

Elsa’s Sports Grill is expected to reopen its bar on Tuesday and will resume restaurant operations no later than Wednesday, according to restaurant officials.

When the restaurant reopens on Wednesday, the kitchen will be unable to serve fried foods.

UPDATE @ 4:49 p.m. (Oct. 23):

Elsa’s Sports Grill on East Stroop Road in Kettering is closed for the day after a small kitchen fire this morning.

The sign on the door encourages people to check out their other locations on Linden Avenue, Wilmington Pike or Far Hills Avenue.

Elsa’s Sports Grill in Kettering may be closed today after a small fire was put out in the kitchen this morning.

Crews from Kettering, Washington Twp. and Dayton responded to the restaurant.

A Kettering fire official said two employees were inside working when the fire started. The exact cause was not immediately known.

The employees attempted to put the fire out then called 9-1-1. Crews encountered heavy white smoke in the kitchen but were able to douse any remaining flames quickly.

Dayton Power and Light and Vectren both responded to check the utility feeds to the business.

We’ll check back to see if the restaurant is able to open later today.

Crews in Kettering are responding to a reported fire at Elsa’s Sports Grill, 1216 E. Stroop Road.

Smoke was reportedly showing from the business shortly after 9 a.m.
