Here’s where to watch Sunday’s Browns-Bengals game

Dayton-area fans of the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals have a rather robust array of options to watch the “Battle of Ohio” Sunday: every sports bar in town, for starters.

It wasn’t always that way. Randy Dodson, president of the Browns Backers of Greater Dayton, said it wasn’t too many years ago that only a couple of places in town would have the Browns games on TV, so those sports bars would become magnets to large numbers of Browns Backers who couldn’t see the games at home. Expanded cable and satellite TV packages have dealt a blow to those large, centralized gatherings of Browns fans, but fans still have their favorite spots.

Browns backers will be gathering at Tuty’s Bar & Grill at 3982 Colonel Glenn Highway, a favorite haunt of Cleveland fans and where Matt Baker, president of the Beavercreek Browns Backers, has set up a tailgate party at 11 a.m. Sunday. Baker said the tailgate party will include door prizes and will raise money for charity.

Clancy’s Tavern at 5514 Burkhardt Ave. in Dayton also draws a fair share of Browns fans, Dodson said, although its web site carefully points out that it offers all games on its NFL ticket.

Bengals fans rule the vast majority of local sports bar just based on inertia and geographical proximity. But fans of all stripes have a new option: Sidelines Sports Bar & Grill opened within the last week or so at 4090 Wilmington Pike in Kettering. The new sports bar, just south of Meijer in the space that previously housed Starlite Diner, boasts a neon Miller Lite beer sign in the window shaped like the state of Ohio — and it sports a Bengals stripes logo.

Of course, established sports bars will run specials to attract the faithful. Bunkers Bar & Grill in Vandalia, for example, will offer a discounted “buckets of beer” bottles special, as well as “Browns Bomber” and “Bengals Bomber” drinks, and will open at 8 a.m. to serve breakfast so that fans can fortify themselves before the game starts.

Here’s a partial list of the Dayton area’s sports bars — but we (and you) know there are many more places out there that will have the game on a flat-screen television and will sell you a brew and a plate of wings or quesadillas to fill you up while you get your fill of the Battle of Ohio:
