And they’re off! Fifteen hundred yellow rubber duckies will take the plunge off of a Great Wolf Lodge water slide, navigate the lazy river, and maneuver to the finish line on Aug. 25. The occasion is the sixth annual Rubber Duckie Regaffle, a fundraiser for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Warren and Clinton Counties.
“This is unique for families because normally you can only use the Great Wolf water park if you are a guest,” said BB/BS executive director Tammy Stebelton.
“It’s a great opportunity to go in and use their water park and help out a great cause.”
The entire $20 of each ticket sold will go toward the BB/BS organization to fund their programs. Also available that day are $5 raffle tickets with a chance to win: $500 Visa gift card, $250 Target gift card, $150 Best Buy gift card, and many smaller prizes. The $5 also buys race sponsorship of a BB/BS child’s duck and a souvenir duck to take home.
“We assign each child a numbered duck, and the first 20 that cross the finish line win prizes for our kids in the program,” said Stebelton.
According to Stebelton, who’s been directing the Warren and Clinton county organization for the past five years, the agency raised $7,700 from last year’s Rubber Duckie Regaffle.
“Great Wolf is a wonderful corporate partner to us,” said Stebelton. “This is a way people can find out about our program and what we do. There’s always a need for volunteer mentors; that never goes away.”
