The implosion of the historic, century-old Schwind building occured as planned at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 17, 2013. The 12-story building at 27 S. Ludlow St. in downtown Dayton was rigged with 50 pounds of dynamite on the first, second, fifth and eighth floors so that it fell in on itself. A large cloud of white dust and debris rose from the implosion, but cleared quickly. Crews are currently in the cleanup stages.
