3 injured when vehicle hits Middletown school bus

UPDATE @ 5 p.m.: A van and a Middletown school bus involved in an accident this afternoon have been towed from the scene, and the road has been reopened.

INITIAL REPORT:

A crash involving a van and a school bus at Roosevelt Boulevard and Witcoff Street has sent three people to the hospital.

The crash occurred at 3:57 p.m., according to Middletown emergency dispatchers. No children on the bus were injured but three people inside the van were taken to Atrium Medical Center for minor, non life-threatening injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which is on the scene with Middletown paramedics.

Middletown Schools spokeswoman Destini Burns said the crash happened when the vehicle rear-ended one of the district’s buses.

“There were five students on the bus and none of the students were injured,” Burns said. “All parents have been notified and students are being transported home.”
