Jungle Jim’s hosts Barrel Aged Beer Bash this Saturday

Jungle Jim’s 2018 Barrel Aged Beer Bash is set for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday inside Oscar Event Center, 5440 Dixie Highway, in Fairfield.

“We’re going to have over 100 beers available to sample, some rare or hard to find, all of them exceptional,” said Jared Bowers, spokesman for Jungle Jim’s International Market, a Fairfield business that started as a roadside produce stand in 1975 and expanded over the years to encompass two enormous grocery stores in Fairfield and Eastgate.

Tickets include entry to the bash, a tasting guide and a commemorative glass to keep. Light snacks and water will be available for festival-goers, as well.

The bash features brews of all kinds, “from light and funky, to sour and bright, to deep, dark and roasty,” Bowers said.

“This is the sixth year for Barrel Aged Beer Bash and it’s easily our most diverse and wide-ranging selection of Barrel Aged beers to date,” he said.

Barrel aging beer takes time, planning and patience in vessels that once contained whiskey, rum, tequila and wine, Bowers said.

“At the same time subtle and complex, there’s an artistry to bringing these beers to life in all-new, exciting and incredibly flavorful ways,” he said.

“Many of the beers that are part of the event aren’t usually available after, because a lot of them are rare, hard to find, somewhat old vintages, or limited runs from throughout the previous year,” Bowers said.

A list of the beers that will be pouring at the event is available here.

Regular admission is $60. A non-drinker’s admission costs $15. For more information or tickets, click here.
