PizzaFire shuts down its Kettering pizza restaurant temporarily

Kettering pizza restaurant PizzaFire posted a sign on its door this morning, Jan. 9 saying it is “temporarily closed for renovations.”

When this news outlet stopped by the restaurant at 4325 Far Hills Ave. shortly after 11 a.m. today, no renovations were underway inside the restaurant. But a U-Haul truck was parked in front, with a man loading items from inside the store into the moving van. He referred questions to PizzaFire corporate officials.

Messages left for a spokeswoman for PizzaFire this morning were not immediately returned.

Cleveland-based PizzaFire has a fast-serve, built-to-order service line similar to Chipotle and Subway, offering diners the choice of 40 toppings, six sauces, and five cheeses on a pie that is placed into an 800-degree and cooked in three minutes.

The concept is similar to Kettering-based Rapid Fired Pizza — which launched in late 2015 and now has multiple locations throughout the Dayton area — and Seattle-based MOD Pizza, which has opened its first two Dayton-area locations in Englewood and Centerville.
