Miami Valley Music Festival Association is seeking volunteers to participate in their river clean-up scheduled for Saturday. Volunteers will receive a $5 gift card to Kuzzinz Bar and Grill for their service, along with free music entertainment before and during the event. The event, hosted in collaboration with the Miami County Park District, will give community members the opportunity to clean up the Miami River while enjoying live local music. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Kuzzinz Bar and Grille at 3006 N. County Road 25A in Troy. Volunteers may check in any time between 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and will be carpooled to clean up locations at Twin Arches and Farrington parks along the Miami River. The cleanup will end at 4 p.m., and volunteers may leave any time between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear old clothes and bring gloves if desired. All recyclable materials collected during the event will be donated to Can Do Recycling, a program offered by Vision Mentors that gives adults with disabilities the opportunity to learn new skills and grow as individuals while generating income. Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services is seeking volunteers. The organization is accepting applications for guest relations ambassadors to serve shifts. The group is looking for serious volunteers who will be trained in monitoring blood donors for post-donation reactions. Guest relations ambassadors also collect critical information from each donor to help improve overall customer service. Training is provided. Each volunteer is asked to serve a minimum of one four-hour shift per month and a six month commitment is required.
