Dayton Ohio Habitat for Humanity is seeking family advocate volunteers. As a family advocate, volunteers will work directly with partner families through their Habitat journey to home ownership. Volunteers must be at least 25 years old to volunteer for this position. Some key responsibilities are building relationships with families, helping educate the families on responsible home ownership, mortgages and social services and supporting the family emotionally and spiritually. The process takes 18 to 24 months, with about one hour a month of contact. Meeting times and locations are agreed upon by the family advocate and partner family. Advocate training is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, but individual training is also an option. Express interest on and we’ll help match you with a family that works for your location, time, schedule and interests. Advocates are actively recruited year-round.
