Odyssey Hospice is seeking volunteers to brighten a day for a hospice patient in the Springfield area. Volunteers play cards, read a book, watch their favorite movie with them, brush their hair, play checkers, read poetry, listen to music, make a memory book, let them teach you something, eat a meal with them, share a story or take a walk. Odyssey Hospice Volunteers are special, compassionate and giving people who want to help our patients enjoy special pleasures in the time they have left. We cover the counties of Logan, Shelby, Champaign, Miami, Clark, Montgomery, Greene, Warren, Butler and Clinton counties. A 2-step TB test is required (administered in our office) as is proof of current car insurance and driver’s license. Volunteers must be able to visit patients minimum of three to four times per month. Preschool Fair at Courthouse Square is seeking volunteers. United Way of the Greater Dayton Area has partnered with ReadySetSoar and 4C for Children to host the Preschool Fair at Courthouse Square on Friday, June 21. The purpose of this event is to create awareness of the value of star-rated child care centers. Representatives from Montgomery, Greene and Preble County star-rated child care centers will be present to share information and answer questions. Volunteers are needed to assist with setup, canvass downtown area with flyers and to help with tear down at the end of the event. The fair will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 1:30 pm.
