Ultimately the owners of about 17.7 acres, across from Atrium Medical Center, want to build more than 50,000 square feet of medical offices the property east of I-75 along the Middletown-Franklin Twp. border in Warren County.
Last week, the commissioners gave staff a week to work out conditions permitting Middletown Cardiovascular Associates to build an office on eight acres between Bishop Fenwick High School and the Renaissance residential development in Middletown, west of the town of Hunter.
On Tuesday, the commissioners delayed their decision “one more week for you guys to get it together,” Commissioner Tom Grossmann said.
Assistant Warren County Prosecutor Bruce McGary said the conditions he created for Tuesday’s administrative hearing on the issue were altered by county planning staff after meeting privately with the project contractor, Fishbaugh & Sons Construction.
“We can’t just have staff to go meet with people outside administrative hearings,” McGary said at Tuesday’s meeting.
Planner Bob Ware denied the plan was changed after meeting with Fishbaugh.
In addition, Fishbaugh and the other property owner, Dr. Syed Najeed, remain at odds over a maintenance agreement required before the development can be approved for construction.
Middletown Cardiovascular plans to move its main office here from leased space in the former Hilltop OB-GYN office building, on McKnight Drive in the section of Middletown west of I-75 in Butler County.
