Atlantic 10: UD Arena project ‘a game changer’ for league

The $72 million renovation to the University of Dayton Arena will be “a game changer” for the Atlantic 10 and the university’s athletic programs, the league’s commissioner said Thursday.

Commissioner Bernadette McGlade said the renovation will raise the bar for college athletic venues and motivate other universities to follow suit.

“It’s a great day for UD and as a member of the Atlantic 10 conference they set the standard, they raise the bar and they elevate,” McGlade said at UD Arena. “They are unquestionably one of the top programs nationally — and not just in the Atlantic 10 but in all conferences from top to bottom in Division I.”

McGlade said the announcement by the university is “significant for the conference.”
