Beavercreek considering combining park districts

City council tonight will discuss a proposed agreement to form a joint parks district that would maintain all parks in Beavercreek that are owned by the city, township and township park district.

The combined park district would be funded with a 0.9-mill five year levy, according to the proposed agreement.

The levy issue would go on the ballot on Nov. 14, 2017.

If the levy is approved by voters, joint operations of the parks would start on January 1, 2018.

Now, parks in Beavercreek are maintained by different entities. Parks owned by the Beavercreek Twp. Park District, Community Park and Victory Park, are maintained by the township. Rotary Park, which is owned by the township, is maintained by the city.

Discussion about the proposed combined park district is parT of the Beavercreek City Council budget work session. The council will also discuss police, parks and recreation and golf funds during the meeting.
