Course boosts youth babysitting skills

VANDALIA — The Vandalia Recreation Center is hosting a class to teach children in fifth through eight grades how to become better babysitters.

The class, taking place on Saturdays March 4 and 11 at the Vandalia Senior Citizen Center, 21 Tionda Rd. from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will teach children multiple aspects of becoming a better babysitter. Skills taught will include Rights of a Babysitter, basic first aid, CPR for toddlers and infants, and appropriate activities for children. There will also be instruction on changing diapers and how to feed a toddler and infant.

The class size will require a minimum of five with a maximum of 25, and registration is required. The fee is $75 for residents and VRC members, and $90 for non-residents.
