No one in vehicle pulled from Preble County pond, officials say

UPDATE @ 5:45 p.m.:  The car has been pulled out of the pond and there is no one in it, authorities say.

Deputies continue to wait for a dive team to respond to the scene where a car was found submerged in a pond on Ohio 725 in Preble County Monday.

Investigators said they received a call of a vehicle in a pond in the 3700 block of Ohio 725 in Preble County around 12:45 p.m.

Michael Spitler, Chief Deputy with the Preble County Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe the incident occurred overnight after they talked with neighbors. Witnesses told investigators they witnessed a car travel into a ditch, heard a noise, but didn’t investigate further after not seeing any headlights.

Spitler said witnesses tracked the car’s tire tracks early Monday afternoon to the pond and called 911.

Deputies said they still do not know if anyone is inside the vehicle, and have requested a dive team to search the vehicle.

Deputies said they’ve requested a dive team after a car was found submerged in a pond on Ohio 725 in Preble County.

Investigators said they do not know if they car is occupied, nor how long the vehicle might have been in the water, prior to crews responding to the scene.

Investigators have not released any details of their findings and its unknown if the vehicle is believed to be occupied.

Emergency crews are responding to a report of a vehicle submerged in a pond in Preble County on Ohio 725 this afternoon.

Crews responded to the 3700 block of Ohio 725 east of Camden around 12:50 p.m., according to initial reports.

It’s unclear if the vehicle is occupied.
