Forest Ridge Association received a $5,000 grant, it’s second from the city, to help improve a community park, said Chris Hummer, president of the homeowners association
“Earlier this month, we had a ribbon cutting ceremony for the playground equipment that we were able to use the first grant on,” Hummer said. “We plan to use the second grant we received on a picnic pavilion,” Hummer said.
First year recipient The Longest Table was awarded a grant to aid in providing meals for an event on the Third Street Bridge in Dayton.
“The Longest Table is a community project designed to connect diverse neighbors and neighborhoods during this time,” Bryan Stewart, founder of The Longest Table Dayton, said. “We serve meals at different locations in the community to get conversation started,”
The group served over 300 people at the Third Street Bridge event in October. They held another event last week.
The grants range from $2,500 to $5,000. The city has awarded nearly $445,000 in grants since 2008.
