Dayton Metro Library’s highest paid employees: I-Team Payroll Project

Program directors and library branch managers topped the list of 41 Dayton Metro Library employees who were paid more than $50,000 last year, according to an I-TeamPayroll Project analysis of employee payroll.

The analysis comes as the library system prepares to unveil its new $64 million main library branch downtown, the centerpiece of a years-long $196 million rehabilitation of 18 area libraries.

The effort is overseen by Dayton Metro Library Executive Director Timothy Kambitsch, whose $147,236 pay was the agency’s highest last year. This does not include benefits such as Kambitsch’s montly $375 car allowance, according to payroll records.

Local governments make payroll with your money, which is why the I-Team has assembled a searchable database of public employee pay in the region.

An I-Team investigation this year found the ability to cash out unused sick and vacation leave is a rare perk in the private sector, though local governments are on the hook for tens of millions of dollars worth of these payments.
