Dayton to plow neighborhood streets Saturday, official says

Dayton snow plow drivers were planning to clear residential side streets Saturday afternoon in the aftermath of a strong winter storm that blanketed the region with blustery winds, rain and snow, a city official said.

Swirling winds and rapidly falling snow made keeping roads clear in the midst of the snowstorm hard, according to Fred Stovall, director of public works.

“We’ve been working around the clock since last night,” he said Saturday. “”We brought in some fresh drivers at (midnight). Now another group of drivers are in.”

Dayton International Airport received 2.7 inches of snow by midnight Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

“It was coming down pretty fast most of the night,” he said.
