Dayton police, OSP send officers to Trump Inauguration

Dayton police and the Ohio Highway Patrol are sending officers to assist with law enforcement at President-Elect Donald Trump’s Inauguration in Washington D.C. this week.

An official with OSP said the patrol is sending 89 troopers from across the state to assist in providing safety at the inauguration.

Dayton police didn’t release a number of how many officers will be going to the event, however said that the officers participating will be on the regularly scheduled off days.

“Participation in this event will have no impact on the City of Dayton budget and will not hamper the Dayton Police Department's ability to effectively serve and protect the citizens of Dayton,” city officials said in a prepared statement.

This will be the fourth occasion that members of the Dayton Police Department will be assisting with security at the inauguration.
