Development at Hithergreen back in front of Washington Twp. board

A local developer is seeking approval from the Washington Twp. zoning commission on what has been a hotly debated topic for residents near the former Hithergreen Center.

Developer Peebles Homes bought the land at 5900 Hithergreen Drive and wants to build 35 new homes on the property.

A zoning commission meeting is scheduled for Aug. 15 related to the required rezoning of the property, as well as a preliminary development plan for the single-family development.

Tom Peebles with Sugarcreek Twp.-based Peebles Homes said he met with concerned neighbors of the property in May to discuss the future of the site. Several residents voiced concerns with wanting to leave more open, green space on the site.

Tuesday’s meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Theater Room at Washington Twp. Rec West, 965 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd.
