DLM’s Killer Brownies capture national favorite-food contest

Dorothy Lane Market's Killer Brownie today emerged victorious in gourmet food website GoldBely.com's "Munch Madness", according to DLM officials and the web site's own vote totals as of late Monday night.

The "Munch Madness" pitted regional food favorites from across the country — all of them sold online by GoldBely.com — against one another in a NCAA-basketball-tournament-like bracket system. Online voting started in mid-March with 64 competitors. In the finals, the Killer Brownie defeated popular Pittsburgh sandwich chain Primanti Bros., which will open its first Dayton-area restaurant near the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek this month.

“We’re delighted that the great experience of our Killer Brownie is loved by people everywhere,” DLM’s Calvin Mayne said today.

Scott Fox, Dorothy Lane Market bakery and Killer Brownie vice president, said, “We are very thankful and humbled by the overwhelming number of fans all over the country who know just how ‘killer’ our Killer Brownie is.”

DLM offered a special promotion to help spread the word about the voting. Customers who voted for the Killer Brownie online could simply walk up to the bakery counter at any of the three Dorothy Lane Market stores and tell an employee that they voted, and the customer would receive a coupon for $1 off any Killer Brownie variety in the case.

Voting was conducted at www.goldbely.com/munch-madness.
