Dump truck hauling 80K pounds of gravel tips over in Germantown

UPDATE @ 6:43 p.m.: The driver for Brown Transport Inc., out of West Alexandria, said he just stayed in the cab as it tipped over, then climbed out after the crash.

The driver, who identified himself as a Middletown resident, said Germantown police didn’t cite him.

Sand’s Towing is unloading the gravel that didn’t spill and will right the truck, which was hauling an estimated 80,000 pounds of gravel. The gravel is being used for road work in the area.

FIRST REPORT

A heavy-duty semi-dump truck’s payload of gravel may have shifted to tip the vehicle onto it side at the Germantown Water Department in Germantown.

The driver wasn’t injured in the accident, reported about 5:30 p.m., in the area of East Jefferson and South Water streets.

Traffic in the area is not affected.
