Fairborn police receive donations for new K-9 officer

The Fairborn Police Department received several donations for the acquisition of a new K-9 officer.

Fairborn police received a total $13,450 in donations from several community sources to bring the K-9 officer aboard in spring 2017, according to a department memo.

“The department has placed a down payment to Gold Shield Training to purchase and begin the initial training of our newest canine,” Chief Terry Barlow wrote a December memo to city staff. “The handler training will be in early spring and deployment of the dog before summer.”

The following donations were reported:

  • "A Fairborn citizen" — $8,000
  • Meijer Store #107 Beavercreek — $5,000
  • Ohio Real Estate Title — $200
  • I-Supply — $250
